Oi gente!  Thank you for visiting and helping us "matar saudades."  "A turma toda" would love it if you would Write A Few Words to our guestbook!  You may need to "reload" to see your message appear.  "Depois que tu partiste tudo aqui ficou tao triste . . ."  Welcome back.  It's good to hear from you again.

Bruce, this Website is truly an act of kindness. Never in my wildest dreams did I invision being able to stay in touch with the EA community 16 years after graduation. For those that are interested, my siblings are James ('69), John ('70), Jane ('72), and Jonathan ('74). E-mail if you would like to know of their whereabouts. Y'all be in touch now, you hear (just a little Texan).

I finally get to enjoy a little of what the rest of you are going through. An old friend, Jeff Richoux, just came through on email. His brother, Patrick, mentioned I was looking for him. Reportedly, Patrick failed completely to mention the EA Website! Way to go, Patrick! We expect Jeff to drop by for a visit soon. We used to climb all over Dois Irmaos, chasing the goats, running from the ladies exiting the Macumba temples, and generally having a great time.

Congratulations on your web page, Bruce. My son showed me this webpage and it brought back muitos saudades. I lived in Rio from 1984-1991. In 1987 I was the President of the PTA and throughout my stay in Brasil was involved in many EA activities. Mando um abrasso to all the Middle and Upper school administrative staff that worked with Headmasters Brown, Landers, and Brisbin.

I attended EA in the 1973-74 school year, which was eighth grade for me. My sister Melissa (known as Missy) was a year older than me and attended also. What a great year! It was our only year abroad and changed my life in so many ways - my perspectives on American culture, an understanding of others' cultures in general, looking at myself, etc. etc. That year is so vivid in my memories. I would love to hear from anyone from that year! What fun! I'm afraid I've forgotten almost all my portugues, or it has gotten mixed up with my Spanish. Otherwise, tudo azul!

A recruiter called about a job opportunity and he mentioned he had attended EA. It was really bizarre. Anyway he told me about this page and it is the coolest thing. This page is better than Tulane's website. Anyway, I would have been class of 85' (I attended from '75 to '81) and still talk to and keep in touch with about 10 people from this time in my life. I also come across younger people in the financial markets all the time. I will definitely spread the word and let me know how else I can help. Maybe I can provide names and numbers of the people I know. Let me know. 212.318.0026

It was really nice visiting EA's web page. So faltam 5 months para eu voltar para a cidade maravilhosa! Estou muito feliz, e nem acredito que meu senior year esta chegando! Foi irado ler emails de pessoas que graduated long ago... I can still remember some of those people, although I was probably in middle school when they graduated! I can't wait to go back, meet my friends again, e ir muito na praia. If any friends around, mande noticias!!

This is Patricia again - I left a previous message before but forgot to congratulate those responsible for creating this website - it's great! Also, I wanted to correct an error in my previous message and add a little more news. I have been living in Manhattan Beach, CA since 1986, not 1981. I graduated from EA in 1976 and went to college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, right by the beach (of course!). Then I transferred over to UCLA, where I graduated in 1981. I then went back to Rio for three years where I worked. I came back to Los Angeles in '84 and married in '86 and here I am! I'll be checking in often to get some more news. Once again thanks for the website - and by the way, I am good friends with Diana Taylor, class of 69 who you might know.

Oi Gente Fina: What a marvelous Web page. Bruce esta de parabens. Hard to believe it has been over 20 years. Since then I was married for 10 but now single again, no children. After leaving Rio I have lived all over the US but now settled in Seattle. True to my lifetime interest, I sell big jetliners all over Latin America, a job that luckily affords me the opportunity to visit a Cidade Maravilhosa on occasion. For all of those long lost friends of yesteryear, please drop me a line, I would love to hear from you.

The website comes through again! Many months ago, Erma Jean Tanner wrote to ask if anyone knew of the whereabouts of Debbie Toomey, Class of '60 or '61. Today, Gail Toomey called to let us know where Debbie is, and to give us her own information. Gail doens't have a computer yet, but her address is 826 North Perry Avenue, Tucson, Arizona 85705. Her telephone (she said I could publish it) is (520) 903-0679. So, if you knew her, give her a call!

Happy New Year to everyone!! I have been reading some of your messages and have seen familiar names like Patrick Richoux, Misan, Sussi, some of my 1976 classmates. Would be great to get news from old friends. It was great to see so many of you at the 1996 San Diego Reunion. Too bad we never did get a directory or our pictures (does anyone remember the photographer's name?) I am married and have been living in Manhattan Beach, CA since 1981. We have three kids ages 9,7 and 2. Last time I was in Rio was in '94/'95. Saw old friends like Maureen Lynch, Lucia Bahia, Wania Monteiro, Mark Weaver. Am planning on going for the ano novo year 2000 again. Was wondering if anyone knows whatever happened to people like Lisa Erlandson, Rodney Bullard, Monica Glidewell, April Randall, Steven Wakeman are some names that come to mind right now. Looking foward to hearing from my classmates as well - class of '76. Until then. Saudades.

How wonderful it has been to look over the EA web page. I have great memories of the year I spent teaching and coaching at the school way back during the 1971-72 school year.

[Webmaster's Note: We recently received this email from the current EA Headmaster, Dennis Klumpp]:

Have been away on business and am in Rio for but a few days before leaving again for some vacation time. Thanks for your recent e-mail. I have indeed seen your EA Alumni Page and congratulate you for your initiative. It is always good to see EARJ alumni members doing their part to keep the school's banner flying high. You are probably also aware that there are several present and former students who have created homepages for the school. Recently the Board of Directors approved the creation of a more formal Alumni Association and coordinator position. As this association and new position take definition, I will be in touch with you. Your input and suggestions would be most welcome. Additionally, an official school created homepage is presently being drafted. This homepage will attempt to consolidate information of all existing homepages. Again, your assistance in this initiative will be welcomed. Lastly, the Office of Overseas Schools (AO/S)in Washington D.C. is putting together a worldwide directory of AO/S sponsored schools overseas. Sorry for the delay in responding and thanks for your taking the time to write us. GO PANTHERS! Dennis M. Klumpp, Headmaster"

Congratulations on a great job with the EA web site! I am grateful that technology has allowed all of us the opportunity to get in touch with each other again. It is truly amazing...almost to a person, we all feel that our years at EA where the best of our lives. I am currently working as General Director for Latin America for a family-owned food company out of Miami, FL. I hope to see the galera during my travels to South America. I am glad to see that the Class of '83 is well represented with its own web site as well as with its numerous e-mails. Natasha, Rodney, Jill, Marcelo, and Pablo congratulations on the additions to your families. I would love to drink a few beers and reflect on the good old days at EA. Please e-mail me at your leisure. I will be travelling to Brazil for work (and hopefully Carnival!) in February. I will also spend some time in Argentina during the same trip (Jose Castro, I will definitely look you up!) Um abraco, Chris

Oi gente! Its great to read all of your messages. I miss EA very much! I miss all the athletic events, the musicals, the cast parties, etc. I graduated in 1976 then I went to the US and returned to EA to work in the PE department until 1993. I went to reside in Alabama where I completed my masters and worked toward a Phd program in Health while coaching the University of Alabama Birmingham's basketball team. While in the US, I had the opportunity to drive to Florida to spend my 40th birthday with my wife and Edy Salles. I am now in Bahrain coaching basketball. I ve been here 5 months. Hope to hear from old friends! Best to all of you! When youre a Panther youre always a Panther!
