2) All CAAs should have six (6) invoices turned into Jeri Wickersham at our office as soon as possible. Help to make sure you all receive your checks on time.

3) We want your motions! Preferably on a floppy disc, or as an attachment to your email. Jeri Wickersham is keeping track of all received. Don't miss out on valuable motion credit!

Suspended Driving Guidelines Disclosed

According to a memo from Nancy Kesteloot, Trial Bureau Chief of the City Prosecutor’s Office,

". . . effective immediately, we [prosecutors] will no longer give the defendant a continuance to have his/her license reinstated. If a defendant has a license, we will offer the reduced fine. If the license is not reinstated, we will offer the increased mandatory fine. This policy will be utilized at arraignment and pre-disposition conferences."

Practice Tip: Remember, only the judge can grant a continuance!

While we know this information should always be disclosed, the information has been slow to trickle down.

New Babies for CAAs

Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Van Norman, as well as to Jim and Susan Blomo, who all received visits from the stork this year!

The Van Normans are the proud parents of a baby boy, while the Blomos are beaming over their new baby girl.

Our best wishes for learning to cope with babies while still trying cases!

Computer Help Just A Phone Call Away

Recent courthouse discussions revealed many CAAs do not recognize the many benefits afforded them via the Internet website and the CAA eGroup website (group email).
