Thirty of the 54 CAAs are already on-line and are participating in the new computer-based support system.

The new "listserv" already provides CAAs with instant access to memos, case law, jury instructions, and motions. It also facilitates and promotes discussion of legal issues.

In addition, the new "listserv" gives CAAs access to an immediate support group. No longer are CAAs left to fend for themselves.

All CAAs gaining access to email and the Internet should notify Bruce Stirling of their online address (534-2380).

Designating Record On Appeal

All CAAs are reminded to designate the record required for your appeals.

Only that portion of the lower court record really needed to properly effectuate appeals should be included as part of the record on appeal.

Those parts of the record not material to the appeal should not be ordered.

Considerable savings can be realized by designating only the needed part of the record.

Costly transcripts are only prepared on trials that last longer than one hour. In all other trials, a cassette recording of the hearing is used.

A significant amount of our office’s budget would be saved if transcripts for appeals were kept to the relevant portions of the record. Your help is appreciated.

Fully Functional CAA Website On-Line

Phoenix Contract Attorneys can now enjoy the full benefits of their own website. Only CAAs have access their new virtual office on the Internet.

The new website features links to the Arizona Revised Statutes, the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona Court of Appeals (both divisions), the U.S. Supreme Court, the federal district courts, as well as hundreds of free legal research resources. The website will be under perpetual construction.

The metasite also directly links CAAs to the new CAA "listserv" website, to a motion bank, and to other downloadable trial materials.

CAAs can now download trial documents even when they are away from their offices and Phoenix. No longer will "gone on vacation" mean away from the office. CAAs can access their virtual office from any where in the world.

The site also features a CAA Chat Room, which will permit late night issue debates, and free long-distance communications.

The website is expected to grow rapidly. The Contract Attorney’s Office fully expects to "lead the nation" in the quality of on-line support and materials available to CAAs over the Internet.

CAAs now have free Internet support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
