listed on this site, we do not exert editorial control over the items exchanged here.

Some otherwise perfectly legal items may be offered or wanted that are considered
potentially unsafe.  It's up to you as a member to assess the safety and suitability
of anything you post here, whether OFFERED or WANTED.  Below are some items
other members believe require notice of potential dangers and that require some

You must assess for yourself whether these items are appropriate for you and 
whether you feel they are safe for your own use.

USED CHILD CAR/BOOSTER SEATS

Be very careful with these.  An older seat may have been involved in an
accident, and older seats do not meet current safety regulations.  They may also
be part of a recall campaign.  You are hereby NOTIFIED you SHOULD DEFINITELY

USED OR OLDER BIKE HELMETS

A bike helmet that's been in an accident - even a minor one - probably will not
adequately protect the wearer.  Also, some reports say the styrofoam-like
cushioning in bike helmets tends to break down after five years or so;  thus,
older helmets won't provide good protection.  Do your own careful
assessment and research before you use any used or older helmet.

USED CRIB MATTRESSES

Some believe that older crib mattresses (especially those that in any way have
their covers damaged) are associated with a higher incidence of SIDS.  Do an
internet search on the issue before you offer or request one of these items.
