Alumni Messages

Thank you for visiting the Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro's unofficial Alumni web site.  Please Leave a Message for your old friends.  We particularly enjoy hearing about old friends reuniting years after leaving EA.  Please share.  More messages are here, and another alumni message book is here, also.  Somewhere along the way, I created another one here.   Visit the Alumni Message Archives, too.

I just signed the guestbook, but had to add another message. I found a website called "POP The Soda Shop" that sells the "Antartica" brand of Guarana. Their site is: http://www.popsoda.com/anguar.html. The company is located in Scottsdale, Arizona and they will ship "anywhere allowed by law." --Karin

I see that you are out of luck with finding Guarana. I know that Goya recently came out with their version of Guarana soda, and so a website you can purchase it at is: http://ethnic-grocer.genexstores.com/4133104034.html I hope this helps! P.S. I love your site! - I recently came in contact with Ginger via her "SS Argentina" website. I am currently working on getting her some info from my father, who was a Purser on that ship during the late 50's/early 60's and then went on to be a Purser on one of Moore-McCormack's cargoliners in the 70's.

AHHHH!!!! I just called "411" to find out Kim Bong's telephone number. They told me there was no Kim Bong Oriental Market anymore!!! There goes my supply of guarana! Looks like they bit the dust . . . no easy Christmas shopping anymore. . . . sorry for the bad information.

Bruce, if you come up with another source for Antartica Guaraná in the future, please post it here. I tried to contact Kim Bong's, but unfortunately, the number is now inactive. The changed number that I found for them (829-7767) is also a dead number. Thanks!

Just saw comment about Guarana. You can buy Antartica Guarana bottled in Maryland at many places. In Phoenix you can buy it at Kim Bong Oriental Market - 2620 West Broadway Road, (480) 968-7322. I am sure they would love to ship it to you for a price. Better yet, find out who their wholesale distributor is and go direct.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/2818/ Oi, gente! Would you believe that you can get guaraná here in the Good Ol' US of A? We can finally satisfy those cravings after all these years! It's called "Bawls Guarana". I understand it's a "gamers" thing, and it's pretty good stuff, too! It's not quite as great as the hallowed Antartida, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised with it! It sure did bring back those great memories and helped to "matar saudades" after all these years. Mind you, it's not cheap as you have to buy an entire case for $26.99. And where they really sock it to you is on the shipping - over $12.00, so that, in the end, you've spent over $40 for it. But don't forget that a case of this stuff goes a long way! Note that I'm not associated with this company in any way. Here's the link - enjoy! http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/2818/

Time for a bit of house cleaning. Older messages were archived, and this book cleaned out. It should function properly again.
